SWT是PTE写作的一种题型，要求10分钟之内用1句话总结出文章的全部大意。
阅读文章时，速读和精读是两大关键。速读要求迅速掌握文章大意，在其过程中定位关键词和逻辑词。精读要求联系上下文细节，并建议用箭头或线条规划写作结构。
写作时要求尽量控制在75个字左右，并留出一些时间检查语法错误和错词。一些容易失分项：比如句首没有Capital letter或没用标点符号结尾都应该引起注意。

阅读的时候要抓住重点信息。一般来说重点信息为实词如名词、动词、形容词等。尤其是文本中被不断重复的名词，往往代表的是文章的主题。
如文中ageing这个词重复了7次，除此之外还有demographers, demographic revolution, the old, older ones, older individuals, older persons等表示人口统计、老人的细节词与之对应，因此不难看出这篇文章的主题是讲ageing老龄化这个现象。
找出主题后，第一段的五句话分别三次提到：ageing被充分承认、人们更清楚、不容忽视，三个动词来说明ageing已经成为人们生活中不可避免的事实，因此第一段只要概括成Ageing has become a fact of life only fully acknowledged recently即可。
