我们都知道“fight”是斗争和战斗的意思。英语中有句谚语“he who Fights and runs away will live to fight another day”。这句谚语的字面意思是“打不到就先跑，总有一天再回来打”，与我们汉语中的“汉子不吃眼前亏”或“东山再起，卷土重来”非常相似。
还有一个跟fight要挂的常用语叫“fight tooth and nail”，这个短语其实是“fight with teeth and nail”的缩略形式，从字面意思上看是打架的时候又用牙齿又用指甲，有的人可能以为是形容女人打架时的样子。其实不然，这个短语的英文解释为：
to fight in a determined way for what you want
也就是“全力以赴地斗争；坚决斗争”，打架时又咬又抓，可不是“全力以赴”了吗？
