比方说，我们这期要聊的“It's on the house. ”是什么意思？它在房子上面？
其实这句话里的“house” 指的不是房子，而是指商家、店家。
刷美剧的朋友，不知道有没有留意到酒保在请客人喝免费饮料时，经常会说这句话：Your first drink is on the house.（你的第一杯酒免费。）
因此，“It's on the house. ”的意思就是「(这个东西)由商家请客/免费招待」。
“house” 这个词在赌场上还指代庄家。
赌场上有句话叫做：The house always wins.
意思就是说赌到最后永远是庄家赢。
如果是跟庄家对赌，叫做：gamble/play/bet against the house
另外如果是在讲美国的政治时，the House 指的是他们的众议院，也就是the (United States) House of Representatives 的简称，它是美国国会的两部份之一(另一个叫参议院)。
注意在指美国众议院的时候，House 第一个字母是要大写的，因为它是个专有名词。

回到今天的正题，当我们要请客时，也可以用on 这个介词。

①have/get the bill
最常用的用法，其他类似表达：pick up the bill; foot the bill

②take the check
check 在这里指“账单”的意思，也可以作动词表"买单"
例句：
We'll take the check./ Check, please.
我们买单。
③Be my guest
“请便， 不用客气”，类似于help yourself to it.
例句：
Be my guest. Please order whatever you want to have.
晚餐我请，你想吃什么随便点吧。
④My treat/It's my treat.
"treat" 除了有"对待"的意思,它还可以表示"款待、招待"；比如 你和别人打赌输了之后，You had to treat her to an ice cream. （你不得不请她吃冰淇淋）
"treat"还有"名词"的身份，表示"请客、做东"； Let me get this 也可表示 "做东"，常用于口语。
例句：
Would you like to have lunch together sometime, my treat!
什么时候愿意一起吃午饭吗？ 我请客。
