The Geiger-Muller Counter is an instrument used for measuring ionizing radiation used widely in such applications as radiation dosimetry, radiological protection, experimental physics and the nuclear industry.

The original detection principle was discovered in 1908, but it was not until the development of the Geiger-Muller tube in 1928 that the Geiger-Muller counter became a practical instrument. Since then it has been very popular due to its robust sensing element and relatively low cost.

So there are many makers or technicians who are working on how to build a Geiger-Müller counter. For Defcon Shenzhen April Group Meetup (April 20), we’ll invite Terrance Huang here at x.factory to share how he made his own design of Geiger-Mueller Counter, and how to think and work systematically, and having fun learning things. Moreover, there is also a report on the big combined meetup with Beijing's DEFCON Group.
